Meet Dr. Eisenberg
Dr. Ted S. Eisenberg, DO, FACOS, FAACS has over 25 years of experience as a plastic surgeon. For the first 13 years of his career, he performed general plastic and reconstructive surgery from head to toe. Since 1998, he has evolved his practice to focus exclusively on cosmetic breast surgery. Through the years, he has helped more than 5,000 women transform their image through breast enhancement. He is committed to helping women look natural, feel wonderful and have the body they've dreamed of.
A leader in his profession, Dr. Eisenberg has been at the forefront of groundbreaking techniques in plastic surgery. In 2003, he created the I.D.E.A.L.® Breast Lift (Increased Dependability: Eisenberg’s Augmentation/Lift), an innovative procedure for breast lift surgery that maximizes the lift and minimizes the scar. Much of his earlier work has involved the use of tissue expander implants for breast, scalp, eye and nose reconstruction. In the mid–1980s, he introduced these pioneering procedures to the Philadelphia area. His achievements – and the differences they made in his patients’ lives — have been profiled on television and in newspapers. Dr. Eisenberg is also a frequent contributor to academic journals on topics relating to his experience with over 5,000 cosmetic breast surgery procedures, and he teaches his cosmetic breast surgery techniques to doctors from around the world.
Dr. Eisenberg is double board-certified in both General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by the AOBS. After four years of medical school, he took seven years of specialty training, which included an internship, a general surgery residency and a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency.
With his wife, Joyce, Dr. Eisenberg wrote The Scoop On Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths (Incompra Press 2012). In it, he answers hundreds of actual patient questions about breast development, breast health and breast implants. The book has won 10 national book awards in categories including women's health, humor, popular culture, and design.
Dr. Eisenberg has been a guest speaker on local radio stations, lending his expertise as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon to discussions about skin cancer prevention, breast surgery, body piercing and cosmetic surgery.
For over a decade, Dr. Eisenberg served on a national committee that evaluates the standards for plastic surgery residencies. He was National Chairman of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and served on the certifying board of the AOBS.
In honor of his extensive postgraduate education, Dr. Eisenberg was named a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is an associate professor of surgery at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and was chairman of the division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tenet Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Eisenberg has been happily married for more than 30 years to his childhood sweetheart, Joyce; his son, Ben, a graduate of the University of Colorado and George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, is CEO of Smarter Campaigns, a Denver-based marketing, political consulting, and new media company. His daughter, Samantha, a recent graduate of Goucher College, is a singer-songwriter and is working toward a career as a healer. (His office walls are lined with framed photographs taken by his children on family trips.) Dr. Eisenberg enjoys ballroom dancing with his wife; they take lessons at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. He's also involved in tournament knife and tomahawk throwing ; his unique hobby has been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer and on CBS 3 TV.
When Joyce was 8, her mother, just 33, died from breast cancer; this loss inspired Dr. Eisenberg’s interest in breast health. In his ongoing commitment to women in their fight against breast cancer, Dr. Eisenberg donates a portion of the proceeds from his cosmetic breast surgery cases to the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation, whose core program is to provide free mammograms for women with little or no medical insurance. As a Corporate Sponsor, along with Genuardi’s, Bristol-Myers Squibb and PECO, Dr. Eisenberg supports the organization’s Screening and Diagnostic Tests Program.
